On 17th December last, the town of Florence hosted the conference for key stakeholders and end users in the European LIFE SANePLAN Project. The events hall at the Faculty of Engineering, in the University of Florence, provided the setting for a seminar entitled “Sanitation and town planning: from the network to the treating process”.

The seminar was attended by 66 professionals interested in becoming acquainted with the latest developments and results of SANePLAN. The seminar was divided into two sessions in the morning and afternoon, with the participation of speakers from different official bodies:

  • Autorità Idrica Toscana (Water Authority of Tuscany)
  • Fundación Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia (Technological Institute of Galicia Foundation)
  • Ingegnerie Toscane (Tuscan Engineering)
  • Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Florence
  • Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan

The issues covered in the morning sessions dealt with planning and modelling sanitation networks (enlarge information) and, in the afternoon, sessions focused on aspects involving optimizing purifying processes (enlarge information).

Furthermore, the technicians in several LIFE projects in the knowledge network, driven by SANePLAN had the opportunity to share their experiences and exchange information on the accomplishments reached by each of them.
