SANePLAN has taken part in the conference "Dissemination and networking, clean technologies and circular economy" organized by the LIFE Sludge4Aggregates project, last May 4th, in Caceres.

The aim of Sludge4Aggregates is to demonstrate the feasibility of enhancing sludge from Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) and from the aggregate extraction process. Specifically, it sets out to develop a new artificial lightweight aggregate from the sludge that may have industrial applications.

SANePLAN has taken part in the networking session, sharing its experience with three other LIFE projects:

  • DIM-WASTE (LIFE10 ENV/PL/0662), which sets out to demonstrate the operation of an innovative technology for the management of selected waste, including sewage sludge, to produce lightweight aggregates.
  • LIFE GAIN (LIFE12 ENV/ES/0638) sets out to demonstrate the feasibility of using ecological SFS as aggregate in the construction of railroads.
  • iCIRBUS4Industries (LIFE14 ENV/ES/0688) demonstrates the use of flying ash from power plants using forest biomass as an adsorbent agent of heavy metals and other organic materials in sewage water sludge.

This activity is carried out within the framework established by the signed collaboration agreement - SANePLAN and Sludge4Aggregates. Agreements have also been signed with a further 19 European projects.
